Born in Mozambique and travelling to South Africa, the Company African Ambiente was founded in 2006, supportting the exclusive and unique hand made products from Mozambican Artists. In 2014, I started painting on fabric and gave myself the artist name Atir (Rita - reverse). One year later I designer my unique Wrap Skirts on Hemp fabric and created the Brand ATIR - Don't smoke it, wear it - Hemp Clothing
Why did you choose this type of business or craft? When my father made his visits to the Makonde artist, I joined him and was excited of all the beautiful craft they made and my teacher from Art Class encourage me, of the day that might come, of being an artist, already at that time my artist name was "Atir" Rita - reversed :)
What inspires you to create and develop your product range? Engaging with beautiful people that are looking for that uniqueness and giving me the opportunity to put their imagination on fabric, that inspires my colourful soul :)
By whom are you assisted or supported in the creation and making of the products? My fellow Mozambican sista's and brother's
How do you assure yourself of the ethics of the suppliers of your raw materials? Research and visiting the sources
