The Cover Ups

Simeon Hamman grew up in show business with his father as a film producer and director and his mother as the popular singer Sonja Heroldt.   From an early age Simeon performed alongside his mother and it was inevitable that his love of music, melodious voice and talent for the acoustic guitar would lead him to establishing his own group, The Cover Ups.   As the name implies, Simeon is adept at taking popular songs and particularly old-time swing jazz favourites and giving them a distinct fresh and new flavour of his own.   When performing at the market Simeon is accompanied by Khutso on keyboards.

The Soul Travellers

Even though Cindy Alter was born to a musical family, she claims that music chose her.  She picked up a guitar at age 10, wrote her first song at 15 then joined a heavy-rock, cover-band, playing everything from Zeppelin to Grand Funk.  Cindy actively toured South Africa and opened for various big-name acts for some years until she spearheaded the band Clout, leading to extensive local and overseas concerts.   Cindy relocated to the USA  where her musical abilities were stretched beyond her wildest dreams.   She became very active in the local songwriter community, playing clubs and hosting numerous songwriting showcases and events. She became an active member of ASCAP, NSAI & other Songwriting organizations across the U.S.  She is also a published poet.   After a spell of illness, Cindy returned to SA as part of her healing process where she joined forces with with Stewart Irving, a top notch vocalist and performer, forming “Alter Irving”, an acoustic-based “Country-Rock” duo which performed successfully for several years.  Today, Cindy is healthy and happy, telling the stories about her life’s journey through her music and writing her biography, aptly titled, “No Substitute”!  She feels she is living her best life … a life with no regrets! As she says, “It’s been a wild ride, but it’s far from over”.
