Loveable Bags was founded in 2019 by Mandy Pietersen. She has always appreciated the art of hand crafted and useful items. She understands the love and care that goes into every piece. Through the encouragement of her daughter, Mandy started selling her hand-crocheted eco-bags. They are 100% biodegradable. Their motto is: Save the planet one bag at a time. Mandy is assisted by three ladies from the Sea Vista Township. She teaches them how to master the patterns and earn some much needed income.
Why did you choose this type of business or craft? Crocheting is very therapeutic and it is so rewarding to see the reaction from someone when they invest in 1 or more of our products!
What inspires you to create and develop your product range? Making beautiful 100% cotton and twine items that you can use daily is what inspires me to make more. I also get a lot of joy out of teaching my ladies in the Sea Vista Township how to master the patterns and earn some much needed funds!
By whom are you assisted or supported in the creation and making of the products? I am currently assisted by 3 ladies in the Sea Vista Township. Precious, Martha and Shirleen.
How do you assure yourself of the ethics of the suppliers of your raw materials? The yarn I purchase is 100% raw, undyed natural recycled cotton and twine.
Do you have any certificates or endorsements relating to your products or raw materials/ingredients? No
Do you hold any industry accreditations or belong to any industry associations?
What is the purpose of the association and why do you choose to support it? No
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself and your business? I am very excited to mention that my Market Bags were recently used in a fashion shoot in Milan Italy and Venice! On Sunday 20th October my bags are being used at another fashion shoot at The Royal Restaurant and at a Penthouse suite in Sandton! I cannot wait to share some of these pictures too!
